I’ve got you…

MO 2019-moms got you - 1.jpeg

In your darkest, coldest hours, your mom has you in her arms.

It's Women's History month. I think about the women that not only shape our nation and transform cultures, but who they are. They are our mothers, sisters, aunties, nanas. They are the backbone of our families, childhood and communities. Historically, they have been the least appreciated but the most needed. My friend, Dr. David Kim once said, "The man is the head of the family, but the woman is the neck and she holds up the head and guides it."

This photo was taken in a ger in Mongolia. This mother had just burned her last little bit of fuel for a fire, a pair of boots. Using herself and the light weight shirt she had on, she works to keep her youngest warm.

Photo taken by Brian Campbell while on assignment for Holt International.
